You're not alone.

Most of the people I work with one-on-one or in my online community are coming in with a mindset that's mostly negative. It's as though they're on a loop, hearing how they're not good enough, not smart enough, not a hard worker, and incapable of getting where they want to go. 😔

And by the way, our brains are sophisticated machines, and they're very good at creating a compelling case for why your self-doubt is super valid. Imagine everything you've ever done that was wrong, bad, or embarrassing, printed out into folders and carried up to the judge's table for examination. 😬 That's what it's like when our self-doubt shows up. It brings evidence.

Here's the thing though, you've got more control over our inner narrative than you think you do.

Is your negative self-talk on a loop?

The consequences of buying into all that negativity show up all over your business or side-hustle:

What it's costing you:

You're unlikely to seek out opportunities that feel outside of your capability, so the self-doubt you hear on repeat is quite literally keeping good things from coming your way. 🙅

There you go again, undercharging and undervaluing what you bring to the table, all because of what you hear on repeat. 🔄

You can read all the marketing tips you can get your hands on, but if deep down you're doubting your ability, afraid to be seen and judged, there's no way you'll be able to infuse confidence into what you're putting out into the world. They can see through it. 🫥 And you know that, which makes it even harder to show up...

It's time to change the channel 👊

⚡ Less "I'll never get there," more "I can do this."

⚡ Less "I can't because I'm bad at it," more "I can learn anything I put my mind to, all I have to do is start at step one."

⚡ Less "I'm lazy and unmotivated," more "I am capable of doing hard things. I might not get it perfect right away, but I care more about small, consistent progress."

Everything that feels comfortable now was something you needed to learn at one point or another. Even in reading these words, we see examples of learned behaviours! And look, I can toss in a word like "hypothetically" and you cruise right through it! My 7 year old would be quite impressed.

Your comfort zone will try to tell you to avoid effort of all kind because effort = possibility for failure. This is a topic I could nerd about for hours, and it's something we go deep on together in my online community, CHEER CAMP.

Don't believe the lies of your comfort zone today, my friend. You are WILDLY capable. You can do this.

Don't believe the lies of your comfort zone!

I'm Laura Kelly, a life & business coach living in Ottawa, Canada with my husband (we've been together since we were 17!) and our two kiddos, Cooper and Jilly.

My daughter may or may not have been named after one of the Real Housewives of New York, which should help to set the tone for my deep, deep love of reality television.

I've been self-employed since I was 21, when I quit my job as a legal assistant to pursue photography full time. In 2018 I realized I had built that business beyond my wildest dreams, and I knew I was ready for a new challenge. Now, I help people like you discover how to quiet their self-doubt so they can fearlessly go after their next goal.

I'm big on romanticizing life, celebrating progress of all sizes, and the impact of long-haul personal development vs. focusing on quick fixes.
